About the Founder

Matt Jones brings 24 years of firsthand, class 1 railroad experience, where he has worked directly in railroad operations, including railcar switching, yard operations, and train service. He has also served as a safety facilitator and supervisor and has worked with various railroad customers in the course of his career.

Railroad Roots

Matt’s connection to the railroad industry started long before his own career. Matt’s father spent more than 30 years with BNSF, giving him an early connection to the railroad world.

Railroading is also part of his wife, Erin’s family history. Her grandfather worked in the railroad industry as well, creating another family connection to an industry that has shaped the way Gulf Belt Rail approaches its business today.

We understand that railcars aren't just equipment: they're part of a larger transportation system that businesses depend on.
